Unleashed is like a bunch of dangerous ski slopes and Colors plays like one of those flash games where you can play as one character in another character's games. Level design: They both missed the point of Sonic, but in completely different ways. Specifically, it only allows me to use them in the areas that exist only to prevent them from going unused the whole game. I also ignore the werehog because I feel like paying mention to it is pointless in this context.Ĭontrols: Unleashed was pretty bad, but Colors stepped it up by no longer giving me control of when I can use my superfluous moves. Colors is generic, bland, and tedious platforming given to an amazing character who is anything but.Ī lot of this might not make sense unless you keep in mind that I think that most of both of these games were pretty terrible. I succeeds in being a bad attempt at ripping off Galaxy. It doesn't even come off as a Sonic game. I don't feel compelled to try to get the red rings, to achieve S ranks, or even watch the cut-scenes again. I don't enjoy playing it, I turn it on for maybe 30 minutes at most. I thought that would forever be Sonic Heroes, but Colors took the cake. Most disappointing Sonic game I ever bought. They should make Sonic NOT drift anymore.ĭo I need to go into this? I'll make it short.Īs you've probably figured I really don't like Colors. But for the most part Colors has controls down.ĭrifting is retarded in both. the horror, I don't want to remember it!!!! It just doesn't work! Sega, make sure it has its own buttons again! The controls for Colors are perfect minus this one thing! It's troublesome to quickstep and move at the same time, especially in Terminal Velocity! Ugh. The only reason why Unleashed has a slight upper hand, because both game have very workable controls, is because quickstepping has it's OWN DAMN BUTTONS.
I played the 360 version of Unleashed and Colors with the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo. Empire City is just like New York City and I was thrilled to see Sonic run on the Brooklyn Bridge. When I play Unleashed levels I can tell that they placed some research to accurately depict a world adventure.

Minus Asteroid Coaster (for obvious reasons) and the Sonic Simulator (which does look like it belongs in a game room at a theme park), none of this is remotely reminiscent of Six Flags, Hershey Park, or even a local carnival! There is a tea cup ride in the background of Sweet Mountain, but it would have been much cooler if Sonic was interacting with it.
This is slow moving! That doesn't belong in a Sonic game! Whoever thought of this has most likely never played Sonic, I don't care what anyone says!Īlso, as someone stated in another topic, for a huge theme park in outer space, there's hardly any theme park.
